The construction of 140 houses for police officers in thirteen counties across the country is set to begin.

The project, valued at around Sh300 million, also includes five administration blocks to be constructed in five police stations.

Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe said that was part of an ongoing programme to ensure that the officers get adequate accommodation and also a step towards realising police reforms.

He said that in order to serve the public better, plans were also under way to construct administration blocks in various police stations.

“We shall start with five administration blocks in five stations before embarking on others,” he said.

He added that no contractor will be given more than one project to ensure that they complete in good time.

The project, funded by the Office of the President is expected to commence soon.

Houses commonly referred to as Type E, are for junior officers from the rank of Constable to Senior sergeant.
