Kenyan appointed to head new Coca-Cola unit

Mr Peter Njonjo, General Manager of East Africa Franchise Coca Cola at Nairobi Bottlers Limited during the commissioning of a new manufacturing line at its plant in Embakasi early this year. He has been promoted to head a new West African unit.

Mr Peter Njonjo, Coca-Cola general manager for East Africa has been promoted to head a new West African unit created after the American-based multinational reorganised its international structure.

The West African unit has previously been part of the larger Central, East and West Africa (CEWA) but has now become an autonomous entity.

Mr Njonjo has been in his current position since January 2011 and the posting as the president of the West African unit comes as a sign of confidence in his work with the beverage maker.

ALIGN OPERATIONS

“The changes we are announcing today streamline our international structure, and reflect strong talent succession and a commitment to developing the next generation of leaders at our company,” Mr James Quincey, Coca-Cola president and chief operating officer said.

“In Africa, two business units will be reconfigured to more closely align operations with bottling operations on the continent, with the formation of a new South and East Africa business unit and a West Africa business unit,” the firm said.
