Supporters of Nicholas Mrima Wanyepe who was defeated in the Kilifi South constituency primaries on Sunday stormed ODM offices in Kilifi town to demand the county elections board to immediately nullify the results.

Carrying twigs and placards with messages castigating Governor Amason Kingi and Senator Stewart Madzayo, the angry supporters stormed the party office claiming the two leaders had interfered with the primaries.

"Kingi and Madzayo must go. They planned the failure of our MP Mr Wanyepe and hence should be sent home,” said one of the Supporters.

They brought activities at the office to a standstill with hundreds of them still waiting for the announcement of the Woman Rep results.

But the demonstrations were chased away when GSU officers were called in to restore normalcy.

Even aspirants who had arrived at the offices for the announcement had to run for safety as onlookers and passersby also found themselves on the receiving end.

Earlier, businessman Ken Chonga had been declared winner of the ODM ticket for the Kilifi South parliamentary seat.

The wealthy businessman garnered 8,862 votes against Mr Wanyepe’s 2,552 votes.

He was declared the winner at Makio Social Hall as his supporters chanted and sung in praise of him.

The seat is currently held by MP Mustapha Iddi, a former journalist who was elected on an ODM ticket before shifting allegiance to Jubilee Party.

Mr Iddi is to face two other aspirants for the JP ticket.

In the 2013, Mr Chonga vied for the seat on Shirikisho Party of Kenya but lost to Mr Iddi.
