Child dies during hide and seek game

A three-year-old child was burnt to death in Matongo in Kitutu Chache North.
The girl was among children playing hide-and-seek when one of them torched the grass-thatched house where she was hiding.
Matongo Assistant County Commissioner Elijah Morara said the child who set the house on fire wanted to flush out the girl from "hideout".
Kisii County police commander Agnes Mudambi said the incident occurred at 4.30pm.
The children's parents were away at the time of the tragedy.
Ms Mudambi said police were investigating the death.
"The [girl] appears to have been suffocated by .. smoke, but we are still [looking into] it," she said.
The body was taken to a mortuary.
