MP defends Jubilee merger

Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a has told off critics of the merger of parties affiliated to Jubilee Party saying the new outfit will unite Kenyans.

Speaking in Thika town on Friday, Ms Ng'ang'a said the intention of the merger is to create an umbrella party devoid of tribal leanings.

"Our wish is to unite Kenyans. The President wants to be remembered as one who championed for the unity Kenyans," she said.

Ms Ng'ang'a expressed confidence that the Jubilee Party will win the 2017 elections.

"Jubilee won in 2013 with just two parties that is URP and TNA, what will prevent us from winning this time round?" she said.

Ms Ng’ang’a called upon women to seek elective posts in the next polls and backed vernacular breakfast show presenter Gathoni Muchomba in her contest for Kiambu Women Representative post.

Ms Muchomba said she supports engaging the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to conduct Jubilee Party nominations saying this will ensure fairness in the primaries.
