CRUSHED TO DEATH

Elsewhere, a man was crushed to death in a road accident at Piai on Ngurubani-Makutano road in Kirinyaga County when a Nairobi bound matatu lost control and knocked him triggering protests from residents.

The man died on the spot as angry residents confronted the driver and his conductor in the Saturday evening incident.

Fearing for their lives, the driver and his conductor took-off in different directions as the charged crowd pursued them baying for their blood.

Passengers in the ill-fated vehicle watched in fear as the crowd created chaos leading to a snarl-up on the busy road for hours.
Last week, one person died while six others were seriously injured when two Lorries collided at the same spot.

Since January this year, over 25 people — among them four members of the same family — have perished in the region and some of the vehicles involved in the accidents burnt by protesting residents.
