Olago Aluoch defeats ODM candidate again

  • Mr Awiti managed to get 22,416 votes followed by Independent candidate Kennedy Obiero (1,995 votes).

Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch has once again survived the ODM wave after emerging the winner.

The Ford-Kenya candidate got 33,731 votes.

AWITI LOSES

Constituency Returning Officer Dennis Omare Obara declared Mr Aluoch the winner after beating his closest rival John Awiti of ODM.

Mr Awiti managed to get 22,416 votes followed by Independent candidate Kennedy Obiero (1,995 votes).

CHALLENGERS
Geoffrey Ndinya of ANC got 490 votes, Mr Joram Abayo of Jubilee Party got 329 votes and Michael Okidi of Citizens Convention Party had 200 votes.

"I hereby declare John Olago Aluoch winner of the Kisumu West parliamentary seat following the General Election held on August 8, 2017," Mr Dennis Omare Obara said at Arch Bishop Okoth Girls Secondary School constituency tallying centre in Ojola.

WELFARE
Speaking after being declared winner, Mr Aluoch said he owed his victory to the people of Kisumu West and to God.

"I am so grateful [to you] for entrusting me with this position once again and do hereby invite you for a thanksgiving prayer at my home tomorrow (Thursday) morning," Mr Aluoch said.

He promised to continue serving the people of Kisumu West diligently.

BUYU
Mr Aluoch wins the seat for a second term in a row. In 2013 he defeated ODM's Rozah Buyu.

Ms Buyu vied for the Woman rep on an ODM ticket and is also headed for victory.
