Police have gunned down two suspected criminals in Obunga in Kisumu County as they intensify the war against gangs.
The officers were tipped off by members of the public on the suspects’ whereabouts.
County Commissioner Maalim Mohamed said they are still pursuing a third suspect who fled.
"The three were planning to commit a robbery but [we] were informed of the plan," he Mr Mohamed said.
A G3 rifle and five rounds of ammunition were recovered.
"When confronted, the gangsters whipped out their guns and shot at the officers who had no choice but to return fire. Two were killed on the spot but one got away. He however has gunshot wounds," he added.
