The brutal murder of a popular taxi driver in Thika has again brought to fore the increasing cases of mysterious killings that have occurred within the industrial town this year.

Mr Francis Kariuki alias Karis succumbed to head injuries after he was hit by unknown assailants who accosted him as he entered his home early Wednesday morning.

He was with his wife Naomi Wanjiku during the attack in Section 9 of Thika town.

Wanjiku was behind the wheel and her husband got out to open the gate when they arrived home at 3 am from a function.

However, he failed to return and did not respond when called.

She got out of the car only to find him lying in a pool of blood. “I called our neighbours to take him to hospital,” she said.

Police boss Willy Simba said they were holding one suspect in custody.
