Police in Riruta, Nairobi County are holding a man suspected of killing his step-daughter in Ngong Forest.

Stephen Otieno will be charged with murder of the innocent girl, a prosecutor told a Kibera court on Monday.

Parts of the three-year-old girl’s body were recovered from the forest last week, a month after she disappeared.

On August 27, Mr Otieno was charged with abducting the child with intend to have her murdered.

He denied the charge and was remanded to assist police trace the girl or her body.

Last week, detectives told the court that Mr Otieno took them to a spot in Thogoto forest where they recovered his national ID, his mobile phone and the girl’s clothes.

The accused is said to have left his house in Satellite, Nairobi with the child on August 18 when the mother was at work.

He returned in the wee hours of the following day without the girl and told the wife that the girl was on her way home.

By the time the wife left for work, the girl had not arrived home.
