Families grief as two of seven officers killed in Kapenguria are buried

Two of the seven officers killed during a shooting at the Kapenguria Police Station on July 14 by a disgruntled police officer have been buried.
Hundreds of mourners including local leaders flocked the rural home of the Corporal Cornelius Kiplang'at Rono at Ogilgei Village in Njoro, Nakuru County on Saturday for a burial ceremony where he was given a 21 gun salute.
Mourners described him as a humble and a philanthropic person who liked helping the less fortunate in society.
One of the local youth Mr Vincent Korir said that the death of the officer was a big loss to the community.
Mr Korir said the departed soldier was a patriot who had also trained as a civil engineer but opted to join the force to serve and protect his country.
On Friday, General Service Unit officers also buried their colleague Dennis Momanyi, a Recce Squad commando.
Momanyi was buried at his rural home in Ibucha Village, in West Mugirango sub-County, Nyamira County.
Religious leaders from various denominations in West Pokot County on Friday also held special prayers for fallen officers killed by a disgruntled policeman on July 14.
