Nairobi DJ wins Sh4.6m matatu in beer consumer competition

A Nairobi DJ has won a bus worth Sh4.6 million in a just concluded competition run by Kenya Breweries Ltd..

Mr David Nazareth, a 35-year-old who also doubles up as an events planner, was given the keys to a 29-seater matatu that was the grand prize in the Shikilia Nganya Na Pilsner national consumer promotion.

The promotion was launched early in the year and was motivated by the matatu industry.

Nganya“ is slang for a public service vehicle.

Daily and weekly prizes were awarded to consumers during the promotion that lasted ten weeks.

KBL senior brand manager for Pilsner Teresa Malaki said: “The Shikilia Nganya na Pilsner campaign is about rewarding our loyal consumers by offering them exciting prizes and rewards”.

Hundreds of lucky winners were able to win daily airtime or other merchandise that were up for grabs such as as t-shirts, key holders and caps.

The weekly winners walked away with home theatre systems and smartphones.

David who has been a regular participant of the promotion said: “This is a great opportunity for me. Life has been challenging but with this “Nganya” from Pilsner, I foresee a brighter future. I intend to do my best in ensuring that income from this matatu supplements what I am already getting from my DJ work”.
