President Kenyatta set to campaign in Embu, Tharaka Nithi

  • The visit follows the President’s address to the Nation last week, when he pledged to go back to the people with his vision of unity and transformation agenda that will guarantee a free, equitable, stable, inclusive and prosperous Kenya, Mr Manoah said.

  • The President has moved to consolidate his base ahead of fresh elections, and has won the support of senior politicians who lost in the August 8 poll.

  • These include former governors Isaac Ruto (Bomet), Peter Munya (Meru) and former Kitui Senator David Musila.

President Kenyatta today takes his re-election campaigns to Embu and Tharaka-Nithi counties.

In a statement to newsrooms, State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said the president will make a meet-the-people tour of Embu and Chuka towns.

The two counties are considered Jubilee Party’s stronghold.

“The visit follows the President’s address to the Nation last week, when he pledged to go back to the people with his vision of unity and transformation agenda that will guarantee a free, equitable, stable, inclusive and prosperous Kenya,” Mr Manoah said.

According to the presidential election results posted on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission public portal, Mr Kenyatta garnered 395,332 votes in the two counties against Mr Odinga’s 27,957.

CONSOLIDATE BASE

“The President will reiterate his message that the Kenyan people will speak once again, and must be heard on October 26, 2017, the date the electoral agency has set for fresh elections after the Supreme Court annulled the August Presidential polls,” Mr Esipisu said.

President Kenyatta has moved to consolidate his base ahead of fresh elections, and has won the support of senior politicians who lost in the August 8 poll.

These include former governors Isaac Ruto (Bomet), Peter Munya (Meru) and former Kitui Senator David Musila.

The Head of State has also hosted delegations from Kisii and Nyamira Counties, 10 counties of the greater Central Kenya region, Lower Eastern, four counties of Western Kenya, Narok County, and Pastoralist communities.
