Anti-graft officers arrest Kericho traffic boss

Kericho traffic commandant James Kiili has been arrested in an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission sting operation in which Sh5,000 was given as a bribe to release an impounded vehicle.
Mr Kiili is said to have demanded the money before releasing the vehicle.
The traffic officer is expected to be arraigned at the Nakuru anti-corruption court on Monday.
Anti-graft officers set up the sting and swung into action, arresting the officer while he was receiving the treated cash from the vehicle owner.
The incident adds to the growing list of officers being arrested for taking bribes in the county.
In August last year, anti-corruption detectives also arrested the then Kericho resident magistrate Judith Achieng Nyagol for allegedly accepting a Sh10,000 bribe.
Court clerk Joseph Cheruiyot was also arrested for a similar offense and the case against the two is ongoing at the Nakuru Law Courts.
The magistrate was charged with taking a bribe to rule in favour of a man who had been accused of operating a bar without a licence at Brooke Trading Centre in the outskirts of Kericho town.
