Police receive new chopper from Russia

The police Airwing has received a boost after acquiring a new helicopter from Russia.

The mi-17 model will be used as a troop carrier with a capacity of up to 36 persons.

Technicians from Kazan helicopters, the manufacturers of the aircraft are expected to officially hand it over to police on Wednesday next week.

Parts of the aircraft were earlier in March delivered to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where the assembly took place.

It made its maiden flight from JKIA to Wilson airport on Wednesday, the headquarters of the police Airwing.
