Police confirm arrest of three officers linked to lawyer's death

Inspector-General of Police has confirmed the arrest of three officers linked to the killing of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.

In the statement sent to newsrooms late Friday evening, the police assured the public that investigations are underway with "with a view to ensuring that justice is done to all."

The National Police Service distanced itself from the behaviour of the arrested officers noting "we reiterate that their behaviour is not representative of what the National Police Service stands for and the few rogue elements will always be dealt with firmly according to the law."

On Friday evening, the Law Society of Kenya chair Isaac Okero demanded the resignation of senior police bosses Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet, Deputy Inspector-General Samuel Arachi and Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery over the killings.
