The tribunal investigating former Supreme Court judge Philip Tunoi has ended its proceedings.
Chairman Sharad Rao on Monday said the panel lacks the legal mandate to continue with the investigations as the judge has retired.
Mr Rao said the issue of whether the judge was properly retired is not relevant to the tribunal.
He said the judge was retired via successive court judgments from the High Court to the Appellate Court and to the Supreme Court, which all upheld that the judges should retire at 70 years..
He said the tribunal would, however, forward the evidence it had gathered on the judge to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The tribunal was formed to investigate Mr Tunoi after he was accused of receiving a $2 million (Sh200 million) bribe from Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to rule in his favour in an election petition filed by Ferdinand Waititu, now the Kabete MP.
