Kisii and Nyamira counties top number of party nominees

Constituencies in Kisii and Nyamira counties dominate the top ten constituencies with the highest number of party nominees.
According to the final list summary by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), seven constituencies from the two counties are in the top 10 positions of constituencies with the highest nominees.
The seven are led by Bobasi constituency in Kisii County which has 123 party nominees for various elective seats.
Once the independent candidates are included, the number could even go higher given the wave of applicants for various seats as independents.
The constituency is currently represented in the National Assembly by Stephen Manoti.
Other constituencies in Kisii and Nyamira counties are Nyaribari Masaba and North Mugirango, each with 98 nominees and placed joint second ahead of South Mugirango (91) and West Mugirango (89) which ties with Lamu West.
Nyaribari Chache (88) and Kitutu Masaba (83) are also in the top ten constituencies with the highest number of party nominees alongside Kilifi North and Machakos Town, with 84 and 75 party nominees respectively.
On the other hand, Ndaragwa (8), Suna West (10), Ainabkoi (11), Kangema (12) and Mathioya (12) and constituencies occupy the bottom five with the least number of party nominees.
Others in the bottom half are Seme, Ndia, Kesses, Mogotio with 13 party nominees each.
The IEBC list shows that there are 1,479 party nominees for the 290 National Assembly seats and 9,221 nominees for ward representative gunning for the 1,450 places.
