Jubilee leaning leaders fault Joho for leading Cord protests

A section of leaders on Tuesday criticised Governor Hassan Joho for leading anti-electoral commission demonstrations in Mombasa.

The governor’s critics were of the view that the coastal city was still smarting from the effects of insecurity, and demonstrations such as those witnessed on Monday would be unhelpful to its economic recovery.

Jubilee Party Coast coordinator Suleiman Shahbal said the Cord protests showed lack of respect for the Constitution.

“The demand by the Opposition that IEBC (Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission) officials should vacate office goes against laid-down procedures in the Constitution,” he said.

He asked Cord principals to respect the laws they helped to bring about.

INNOCENT PEOPLE

Addressing a press conference at the Palm Tree Hotel in Mombasa, Nominated Senator Emma Mbura (TNA) said it was shocking to see Mr Joho leading demonstrations and yet there were pressing issues that needed to be addressed in Mombasa.
