Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi has returned to Parliament after a four-month forced absence.

Mr Wandayi returned to Parliament on Tuesday, five days after the Powers and Privileges Committee recommended the lifting of the ban against him.

Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso had also announced that he would be allowed back.

He had been ejected from the chamber and then barred for the rest of the year after he defied orders to leave after interrupting President Uhuru Kenyatta's State of the Nation address on March 31.

Mr Wandayi challenged his ban in court on the basis that the Standing Order on which he was barred is unconstitutional.

A court order issued to temporarily lift the ban was not heeded and Speaker Justin Muturi referred it to the Privileges Committee.
