Thirdway Alliance leader Dr Ekuru Aukot now says that only his name should be included in the list of those participating in the fresh presidential election scheduled for October 26.

Dr Aukot, who spoke after meeting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati at Anniversary Towers on Friday, said the orders issued by High Court Judge John Mativo was specific, that “only my name be included.”

“Despite the orders, the IEBC is still uncertain whether to include the names of the other candidates,” Dr Aukot said.

Other than President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga, six other candidates participated in the August 8 presidential election.

During the meeting, Dr Aukot also requested to be updated on the negotiations between the commission, opposition and Jubilee.

On Wednesday, Justice Mativo ordered IEBC to include Dr Aukot’s name be included in the ballot.

In his judgment, the judge ruled that Mr Aukot was party to the petition challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s election, as an interested party.

The judge said he sees no reason why the petitioner should not be included in the election.
