Kenya Prisons beat Benin Police in African Club Championship

Kenya Prisons revived their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the ongoing men's Africa Club Volleyball Championship in Tunisia, in the wake of Monday's 3-0 sets (25-13, 25-9 and 25-23) victory over Benin's Police.
This was Prisons first win in the competition, secured in the team's second outing in this four team group which also consists host team Etoile Du Sahel and Espoir from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Already, Etoile have progressed to the quarters with a game to spare from this group, after posting impressive straight-set wins over Prisons 25-16, 25-16 and 25-17 on Saturday, followed by another convincing 25-14, 25-14 and 24-15 result against Espoir the following day.
Thus, the Congolese side who are challenging Prisons for the remaining quarter final place, and have also won once, beating Benin's Police 3-0 (25-19, 25-16 and 25-19, will face Prisons on Tuesday in a game whose winner will advance to the last eight, and loser gets eliminated.
"I am satisfied with the two results(we have posted here). We suffered abit against Etoile in the opening match but that for playing barely 24 hours after landing here and it is very cold here now, it's winter." said Prisons coach Gideon Chenje said on Monday.
"But now we are more settled and that reflected with the way we played against Police. The Congolese team is good, we are just about on the same level considering how we both performed against Etoile. They also have a couple of national team players in their ranks. I however expect us to beat them." added the Kenyan coach.
In another result which is of interest to Kenya, Rwanda's University of Kibungo went down fighting 2-3 (15-25, 25-21, 29-27, 16-25, and 15-8) to Burkina Faso champions Dounanes.
The Rwandan side boasts Kenyan youngster Aboud Kipkururi, 19, a left attacker, in its ranks. The Malava Boys alumnus has been awarded a sports scholarship by the Rwandan institution, which guarantees him free University education up until the end of a degree course of his choice.
In return, he is expected to turn out for the pro-University side in all competitive matches he is selected in.
