Ushuru blitz Kibera Black Stars at Camp Toyoyo

What you need to know:

  • Police bounced back from their 1-0 loss to table toppers Vihiga United by beating struggling Bidco United 3-2 in an entertaining match at Afraha Stadium.

Kibera Black Stars were undone by comical goalkeeping and inexperience as Ushuru thrashed the National Super League newcomers 3-0 on Saturday at Camp Toyoyo grounds.

Black Stars, backed by a handful of their ever-present fans, started brightly and did well to contain Ushuru but cracked at the half hour mark, their custodian Paul Ochieng parrying Lwamba Bebeto's shot on to the path of Moses Maina, who calmly slotted in for the first goal.

Ochieng, who was having a rough day, gifted Ushuru the second goal after another school boy error just two minutes later.

The custodian punched a loose ball on to the path of Benson Amianda, who made it 2-0 for Ushuru.

The second goal sent shock waves on the Black Stars back line and from then on the taxmen dominated the match.

Maina grabbed his brace just before the breather, capitalising on yet another goalkeeping error to tap in what was to be the final goal of the match.

POLICE DOWN BIDCO

In Nakuru, Police bounced back from their 1-0 loss to table toppers Vihiga United by beating struggling Bidco United 3-2 in an entertaining match at Afraha Stadium.

Sebastian Osodo opened the scoring for Bidco in the 21st minute but former Gor Mahia forward Kevin Omondi levelled the scores with a well taken goal six minutes later.

Esau Wasike made it 2-1 in favour of Police in the 32nd minute and Clinton Kinanga made it 3-1 just before the break.

Former Ushuru and AFC Leopards striker Hassan Mohammed scored from the spot for Bidco to make it 3-2 but Police held on for the crucial three points.

Bidco are yet to win a game this season and have reportedly sacked head coach Yusuf Chippo. Team Manager Anthony Akhulia, who is in charge of the team at the moment, lauded his charges despite the loss saying they played better than the previous game but lady luck was not on their side.

"We've had a very bad start to the season and the management decided to make temporary changes to the technical bench from last week. The lads have responded well in training and I think they played better (today) but luck was not on our side," he said.

"We overhauled the whole squad after the end of the 2016 season and brought in very young and inexperienced players who are yet to gel. That has been our main undoing but from the performance today I'm optimistic we will pick positive results in our next assignments."
