Patel clinches Britam tourney

  • The Competition Scratch Score for home players during the weekend was 74(34 points) and 75(33) for visitors, meaning the overall winner Patel, who carded 18 and 20, will now be playing off 23.5 from handicap 26.

The course proved tough even for the single figure handicap players, where 32 points by former captain Gurbux Singh was their best. But back to the weekend winners, Aameen Dhanji fired 37 points made up of 18 and 19 to claim the men’s prize, beating Kim Lanxe by two points while in the ladies section, Truphena Oyaro carded 33 points to win by a point from lady captain Joyce Masai.

Alyssa Jamal was the best junior on 34 points, and Ken Kaniu and Milan Shah were the staff and guest winners on 26 and 28 points.

The nines went to Jon Stokes on 20 and Hanif Walli who also posted 20 points. Pauline Gichara and Charles Rob won the nearest to pin awards and the longest drive contest winners were William Kaguta and Susan Stokes.

A total of 127 players participated in the event. At Sigona, James Njeke produced an excellent 43 points to win the Vaisakhi Trophy ahead of T.S. Chana, Mwaura Kariuki, and Nitin Shah on 40 points each.

Anne Kabugi carded 38 points to claim the ladies prize, as Muthaiga’s Uday Rajani posted 37 points to emerge as the best guest and Michael Njoroge won the gross with 32 points.

Adam Tayebjee, a grand son of former Nation cricket writer Zoeb Tayebjee, clinched the junior title with 36 points. The nines went to Inder Nain (21), and R B Shah on 23 points.
