The Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) on Thursday received a Sh1 million cheque from Prime Bank towards the prize money basket for the 2017 Diani Beach Masters golf championship set for next week at the par 72 Leisure Lodge Golf and Beach Resort in Kwale County.

Receiving the cheque from Prime Bank business development director Vijay Kantaria, PGK chairman Charan Thethy said besides the local professionals, the tournament had attracted players from as far away as Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

He said the first round of the 72-hole event will take place on Wednesday, October 18, with the final round being played on October 21 where the pros will be joined by a number of amateurs including Prime Bank guests.

“We are most grateful to Prime Bank for inviting the pros once again to play in the Diani Beach Masters,” said Thethy.

He said so far 30 locals had already listed their names to play in the tournament, although more are expected to confirm by early next week.
