Mwakitawa edge Marungu to seal Voi football title

Mwakitawa, who are also the reigning Taita Taveta County basketball and netball champions, made clear their intentions of winning girls football title with an easy 4-1 victory over favourites Kajire Secondary in the semi-finals.

Other scorers for the victors were Amina Mwanyando and Betty Kwale in this matches which were played at Voi secondary school in Sunday.

In the other semi-final matches, Marungu Secondary beat Kasigau 1-0 to book a ticket to Taita Taveta County games set for this weekend.

Voi Secondary also defeated Mwangea Secondary 4-0 to be crowned the new football champions in Voi District after beating Sagala International Talent Academy 2-1.

In Matuga Sub-county in Kwale County, Kwale Girls turned tables on Waa Girls to win the title after losing 2-1 to their bitter rivals in the preliminaries.

Shimba Hills Secondary won boys’ football title after beating Mkongani Secondary by a solitary goal. Waa Boys and Kwale Girls were crowned the volleyball champions after easy wins over their opponents.

Waa Boys beat Kwale High 3-0, while Kwale Girls beat Waa Girls by a similar margin.

The Term Two ‘B’ games, which feature football, volleyball and racquet games, will conclude mid next month instead of early August to pave way for General Elections.
