Students reveal how Bomet sex party was planned

The thirty students who were arrested over a sex and beer party in Bomet County have been released from police custody.

They were freed on Saturday, on police bonds of between Sh1,000 and Sh1,500, after spending a night in the cells.

Two of the students, who spoke to the Nation outside Bomet Police Station, said they organised the party as a farewell after the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

They also revealed how the party was planned and executed away from the prying eyes of teachers, parents and the school administration.

The students said food and drinks were sneaked into the home where the occasion took place after a journey that involved passage through a maize plantation, a tea plantation and a thicket.

The learners said the plan was hatched when schools reopened for the third term three months ago.

“We held a series of meetings as a class and thought the best way to remember our secondary school days and say goodbye to each other was to hold a party outside the institution immediately after writing the last KCSE paper,” one said.

The students said they each contributed Sh200 for the purchase of food and drinks.

"Only 34 of us raised the money, which was a ticket to the event. Those who could not afford it kept off and went to join their families and relatives after the exams," the other said.

POLICE REPORT

Bomet divisional police commander Samson Rukunga denied reports that the 30 were students of Njerian Day Secondary School.

Mr Rukunga said they arrested adults for being drunk and disorderly.

“What I know is that people were netted in a swoop at Chepngaina Village after reports that they were drunk and had been causing a disturbance in the area,” he said.

“I am not aware of the arrest of any students alongside suspects who will be arraigned on Monday."

A woman said to have supplied the 15-19-year-olds with beer, soda, juice and food was also released.
