Eight people were arrested on Tuesday in connection to the assault a chief, his assistant and three police officers in Kilifi County.

Police were pursuing for other suspects, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i said.

RELENTLESS

Speaking at Uhuru na Kazi in Mombasa after a security meeting, Dr Matiang’i said police were determined to find and punish all those involved in the attack.

“We were given a list of 12 people. I want assure you that we will arrest them all ... we will go after them even if till the end of the year," he said.

"You cannot attack public officers in such a beastly manner and hope to walk away with it. We are not a savage society."
