County commissioner Narengo in hospital after accident

Busia County commissioner Jacob Narengo, his driver and bodyguard are admitted at Homa Bay Referral Hospital after their vehicle knocked and killed a motorcyclist.

The accident happened at Samanga trading centre on Homa Bay-Kendu Bay road Monday evening.

The three received several injuries after their vehicle rolled several times when it tried to avoid hitting the motorcyclist.

Homa Bay County commissioner Irungu Macharia said the rider crossed the road without indicating that he was making a turn.

The motorcycle rider died on arrival at the hospital.

Mr Macharia said his Busia counterpart will be transferred to another hospital for specialised treatment.

Mr Narengo was travelling to Busia after attending a consultative meeting on fishing in Lake Victoria.

The meeting brought together delegates from Kenya and Uganda.
