Charles Kamuren wins Baringo South seat

  • The electoral commission said 21,617 votes were cast representing a voter turnout of 61.48 percent.

The electoral commission has declared Charles Kamuren of Jubilee Party winner in the Baringo South Constituency by-election.

Mr Kamuren garnered 12,777 votes with Cynthia Kipchilat of Maendeleo Chap Chap second after receiving 8,968 ballots.

Chacha Cha Mashinani’s candidate Paul Kimaru Motoloi has garnered 355 votes while Mr Sylvester Sergon of Republican Labour Party got 17 votes.

The electoral commission said 21,617 votes were cast representing a voter turnout of 61.48 percent. The constituency has 35,162 registered voters. Eight-two votes were rejected.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Grace Kipchoim in April this year.
