Former governor Jack Ranguma filed the petition on September 6 contesting Prof Nyong’o’s election.

PETITION

The respondents in the case were Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Prof Nyong'o and Kisumu County Returning Officer John Cox Lorionokou.

The judgment notice dated December 29 was signed by Kisumu Deputy Registrar Mrs Pauline Mbulika.

In the petition, Mr Ranguma had accused the IEBC of mismanaging the August 8 polls.

He wanted Prof Nyong’o’s win nullified, arguing that the returning officer’s announcement and declaration of the winner was erroneous.

Mr Ranguma was also seeking a recount and audit of the votes.
