A fight by brothers over their mother’s phone turned tragic in Konoin, Bomet County, when one was stabbed to death on Saturday.

The brothers, aged 30, and 33, had been using the phone to place bets on various online betting sites on Saturday.

The younger one arrived home from a local drinking den when he found the older brother using their mother’s phone.

He attempted to grab the phone before a fight ensued. During the fight, the younger sibling picked a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbed his elder brother on the chest, inflicting serious injuries.

Boito Location Chief John Cheruiyot said that the victim was rushed to Litein Mission Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect was arrested by the public and handed over to the police in Mogogosiek to save him from a mob that was baying for his blood.

Murder cases have been on the rise in the county in the last three months in what has raised concern among the leaders and residents.
