Police officers injured as vehicle rolls after tyre burst

At least 15 police officers from Mandera are nursing injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in rolled after a tyre burst.

Lafey OCPD Antony Nderitu said the officers left their station for Nairobi on Sunday, some going on leave while others were on job assignments.

“I am aware of the accident [involving] our officers who were headed to Nairobi for different reasons including work,” said Mr Nderitu by phone.

A report at Sololo Police Station indicated the 15 were all from Lafey Police Station in Mandera County.

“It rolled several times before landing on its side leading to injuries of different degrees,” states the report.

The driver and other officers suffered serious head injuries and fractured hands.

The injured officers were treated at Sololo Mission Hospital and their vehicle was towed to Sololo Police Station.
