The body of a 47-year-old woman who went missing from her Gatitu village in Kinangop Constituency, Nyandarua County has been discovered in a farm, a short distance from her home.

Jane Waithera, a mother of three, left her mother’s house on Monday evening never to return.

Relatives said that Ms Waithera left home to collect a plastic basin she had given to her neighbour for repair.

“She left the house a few minutes past 7pm to collect the basin but she never came back. It was the last time we saw her alive,” said her mother, Ms Grace Njambi.

WORRIED

Ms Njambi said she got worried when her daughter failed to return two hours after she left their home.

“I alerted her brothers who visited the neighbour who confirmed that Waithira had already collected the basin. We alerted our neighbours and a search was mounted but she was nowhere to be found,” said the mother.

The residents were shocked to find her mutilated body dumped in a nearby farm.

Ms Waithera’s sister, Josephine Wairimu, said that the body was a short distance from the house of the man from whom she had gone to collect the basin. The man later surrendered himself at Kwa Haraka Police Station.

“We want the police to conduct thorough investigations to establish the cause of her death. She has left behind three children,” said the sister.
