One killed, 23 injured as Kampala-bound bus rolls

One person died while 23 others were injured when a bus traveling from Nairobi to Kampala, Uganda, crashed in Kericho County.

The accident involving a bus belonging to Modern Coast company occurred near Brooke trading centre on the Kericho –Nakuru highway at around 1.00 am on Friday.

“One person has died while 23 who sustained injuries are being attended to at Kericho County Referral Hospital,” said a senior police officer who did not want to be named. The officer said some of the accident victims had since been treated and discharged.

“The bus, which was traveling from Nairobi to Kampala, Uganda hit a bump and rolled, injuring the passengers, while one was pronounced dead on arrival at Kericho County Referral Hospital,” said the officer.

Body of the accident victim has been moved to the hospital’s mortuary awaiting identification and post-mortem.

The wreckage of the bus was towed to Kericho Police Station.
