Class 8 pupil dies in Baringo after taking poison

A village in Timboroa, Baringo County has been left in shock after a Standard Eight pupil died on Sunday morning after taking poison.
Fourteen-year-old Peter Wandurwa Thuo is reported to have taken the poison on Wednesday at their home in Nyakio-Engine Village, in an attempt to take his life.
However, the suicide attempt failed after relatives found the boy in a bad state and attended to him.
He was taken to Nakuru Level Five Hospital where he later died while receiving treatment.
He had been referred from the Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital on Saturday evening.
The pupil from Nyakio-Engine village is said to have drunk a pesticide used in cattle dips.
He was rushed to a local health centre and later transferred to the sub-county hospital when his condition deteriorated.
