Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua has slammed Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and other ODM leaders over what he says is continued disrespect for the Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Mr Musyoka, who is a co-principal in Nasa opposition alliance, has been receiving criticism after he failed to attend the “swearing-in” ceremony of the opposition leader Raila Odinga on January 30.

Speaking Saturday at a Burial ceremony in Mwingi, Mr Wambua said that it would be shameful for any leader elected under the Nasa coalition to show disrespect to any of the four principals.

The senator’s remarks come a day after an exchange of words between Governor Joho and the Wiper party leader during an ODM delegates meeting, when the governor alluded that Mr Musyoka and the other two principals failed to attend the “swearing-in” because “they are cowards”.

ABUSIVE LANGUAGE

“As a party we won’t tolerate any further abuses from leaders elected under the Nasa coalition. Using abusive language on our principals should be the last thing leaders should do; I personally won’t even attempt doing that,” said the Kitui senator.

He told the ODM party that various options still exists for the Wiper party and its either they show some respect for Mr Musyoka, or else the party might be forced to seek other options.

“In case they think we are stuck in Nasa, let our brothers in ODM know that as the Wiper party we have several options and we are ready to pursue any when necessary. Let them tread carefully,” warned Mr Wambua.

The senator also called on all elected leaders from Kitui to put an end to the prolonged period of politicking in the country and instead embark on development and delivery of the promises they made to the people during their campaigns.

KITUI CHALLENGES

Mr Wambua said it is now time to work with all leaders whom people saw fit to lead them so that, jointly, the challenges facing Kitui County could be addressed.

“Our county is arid and we won’t be able to feed our people on pure politicking. It’s time now we focus on development and work with those in power so that we may acquire maximum benefits for our people,” added Senator Wambua.

He also said that the Wiper will be pursuing all possible means to strengthen the party and ensure that its leader, Mr Musyoka, becomes the next president of Kenya come 2022.

“We will come up with new strategies in order to ensure that come 2022, our party leader Mr Kalonzo Musyoka becomes the next president of Kenya to the benefit of all,” said the senator.

He said that the party will embark on massive registration of members and opening of its offices across the country in order to ensure that it has support from all corners of the nation before 2022.
