Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been sued by a County Executive Committee member he dismissed last week.

Mr Waititu cited, among other things, incompetence and inability to be a team player for the dismissal.

John Mugwe, who was the Environment minister, has filed a case at the Labour and Employment Relations Court in Milimani under a certificate of urgency, challenging his dismissal.

Mr Mugwe also wants the court to block Mr Waititu from recruiting a new official and to issue a stay order retaining him, pending the hearing and determination of the case.

The case, in which Mr Waititu and the county government have been listed as respondents, is scheduled for inter-partes hearing Wednesday.

The county assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu and clerk John Mutie have been listed as interested parties.

On Wednesday last week, Mr Waititu sacked Mr Mugwe, who was until April 3 the Roads minister before being moved to the Environment docket under unclear circumstances, and immediately nominated Mr Karungo Thang’wa, a former MCA.

Mr Thang’wa had vied for the senator’s seat, but lost to Mr Kimani Wamatangi.
