Suspect arrested in Homa Bay with bhang worth Sh1m

Police in Homa Bay County have arrested a man, 24, who was accused of transporting bhang worth Sh1.1 million.

Fredrick Okoth was arrested near Magina trading centre along Homa Bay-Rongo road.

Police said he had tried to evade a road block by speeding off.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum said they arrested the suspect following a tip off from the public.

The police boss said the suspect was arrested when his personal vehicle developed a mechanical problem as he tried to speed off from the police.

Mr Tum said security officers who were manning the road block chased down the suspect and apprehended him.

The police boss added that they have not established where the bhang were being taken to.
