Abdi Guyo sets sight on MP seat in 2022

Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Abdi Guyo has hinted that he will be gunning for a parliamentary seat in 2022.

The Spring Valley/Matopeni MCA said that it was time he went for the big seat since he has fulfilled all the pledges he made to people of his ward in Embakasi Central.

“I will not be going for a ward representative seat again. I think I have delivered all my promises for my people and it is time I moved on,” said Mr Guyo.

The two-term Jubilee Party MCA has served as a councillor from 2007 to 2012 and was a minority leader in the last county assembly.

Mr Guyo is a close confidant of Governor Mike Sonko and is also said to have the ear of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He will likely face off with the Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Mwangi who is currently serving his first term after defeating former MP John Ndirangu.

Mr Guyo asked politicians in the county to stop politicking and focus on serving Nairobi residents, saying that voters will judge them on their projects and not on how well they played tribal and petty politics.

“Next elections is still far away and no one here knows if we will be alive in 2022. Let us embrace every message from President Kenyatta and Mr Raila Odinga at the grassroots and unite Nairobi residents,” he said.

He decried the return of insecurity and illicit brews in the informal settlements, faulting administrators for sleeping on their jobs.
