Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero wants jubilee politicians involved in a gun drama last Sunday arrested.

Dr Kidero, who spoke in Dagoretti Thursday when he commissioned the construction of a 2-kilometre link road accused the national government of allowing tribal division and violence.

He said government officials have been reluctant to arrest politicians who have been brandishing guns in public and engaging in violence and chaotic behaviour in Nairobi.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Dagoretti South MP Denis Waweru and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth attended a football match in Dagoretti when rowdy youths interrupted it and guns were drawn.

Dr Kidero said President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto should discipline their political allies who misbehave and cause chaos at public rallies.

LAXITY

He has also accused Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet of laxity when it comes to dealing jubilee politicians causing chaos.

“The President and his deputy, IG Boinnet and (Mr) Nkaissery have been quiet on last week’s drama, yet people drew guns in a crowd of innocent people…We also have guns but we don’t show them off and threaten people because that’s not the Nairobi we want,” said Dr Kidero.

The governor has also threatened to lead a mass demonstration if the three politicians are not arrested, saying that the law allows citizens to arrest offenders.

The Sunday drama ensued when Mr Sonko and Mr Waweru attended the football match and their supporters caused chaos forcing plain-clothed police officers to shoot in the air.

At the same time, Dr Kidero has also accused some politicians for perpetuating chaos in Eastleigh after hawkers obtained a court order allowing them to operate on the streets.

This led to running battles between traders and hawkers.
