City Hall Finance and Economic Planning executive nominee Newton Munene is set to be vetted on Thursday.

The post was left vacant after Danvas Makori was sacked last week by Governor Mike Sonko.

COUNTY ATTORNEY

Mr Munene will appear before the County Assembly’s Appointments Committee chaired by Speaker Beatrice Elachi after his name was presented to the assembly by Mr Sonko.

On the same day, the nominee for the county attorney position Lydia Kwamboka will also appear before the same committee for vetting.

If found suitable, Mr Munene will become the third permanent occupier of the seemingly hot docket in a span of less than eight months since Mr Sonko took office.

He will replace Dr Makori, who replaced Ms Veska Kangogo, was sacked after being accused of working with the aide of former Governor Evans Kidero to siphon money from the county.

Ms Kwamboka, if recommended for appointment by the committee will be the first substantive Nairobi County attorney since the inception of the devolved units in the country.

At the same time, vetting of 22 Nairobi County chief officers appointees kicked off Tuesday with former acting county secretary Simon Leboo Morintat among the individuals vetted by various assembly committees.

Mr Leboo, who has been nominated as public service management chief officer, appeared before the Labour and Social Welfare Committee.
