Nairobi policeman faces defilement charges

A police officer was on Friday charged with defiling a six-year-old girl in Lang’ata last week. 

Salim Nyambane, 40, faced an alternative faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a minor in his house at Lang'ata police quarters.

Senior Principal Magistrate Barbara Ojoo released Mr Nyambane on Sh300,000 bond.

Mr Nyambane is attached to the Dog Unit of the Kenya Police Service. He was arrested on Tuesday after the minor's mother made report at the Lang’ata Police Station.

The girl narrated to her mother how the police officer defiled her before escorting her home, police report said.

The case will be mentioned on May 9 for pretrial.
