A section of university students has asked Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris to respect Governor Mike Sonko.

The students, who have defended Governor Sonko after his falling-out with Ms Passaris, accused the Woman Rep of trying to sabotage Governor Sonko’s administration by painting him in bad light.

Led by Abigael Muturi from the University of Nairobi, the students urged Ms Passaris to concentrate on her duties as a woman representative instead of fighting Mr Sonko.

Ms Muturi said that the MP should give Governor Sonko time to continue his transformational leadership, fighting cartels as well as helping the needy.

“She should let Governor Sonko continue serving Nairobi residents by building roads, refurbishing hospitals,” said Ms Muturi in a press briefing in Nairobi on Friday.

“Being a woman does not give you the audacity to attack others,” said Keith Masese, a student at Technical University of Kenya.

The falling-out between the two leaders played out during on June 1, 2019, during Madaraka Day celebrations at Pumwani Secondary School when Ms Passaris allegedly questioned the governor’s source of wealth.

Governor Sonko has insisted that he will not apologise to Ms Passaris.
