Police in Naivasha have arrested three elderly villagers who attempted to invade a parcel of land belonging to Mr Benjamin Kipkulei, a former senior servant in former President’s Daniel arap Moi’s administration.

Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner Mbogo Mathioya told the Nation that security officers have been dispatched to the area to help deal with the situation.

The three aged between 88, 83 and 68 years were among a group of villagers who invaded the farm on Tuesday after destroying an electric fence erected by the owner.

WARNING

He warned that the government will deal firmly with those attempting to illegally occupy the private parcel of land in Ndabibi.

“We also have a list of individuals inciting the locals to invade private farms and we are hunting them down,” said the administrator.

Mr Mathioya urged those who feel aggrieved over the land ownership tussle to seek justice in the courts instead of resorting to jungle law.

"We shall decisively deal with those taking the law into their hands instead of adhering to the laid down procedures," cautioned the administrator.

RESOLVE DISPUTE

Last year, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui formed a nine-member team that was supposed to work with land officials from the county to help resolve the long standing land dispute.

Some of the locals still claim to be bona fide members but never benefitted from the subdivision of the land that originally belonged to Lord Delamare.

The area has witnessed bloody confrontations between individuals claiming ownership, leaving a number of them dead and others maimed.

Mr Mathioya maintained that any acts of lawlessness will not be tolerated.
