Probes on after three men found dead in Nyeri villages

Nyeri County police are trying to uncover the truth behind three deaths reported on Tuesday.
Three men were found dead under different circumstances in Tetu, Kiganjo and Kiamwathi.
DRUNKARD
In Tetu, a man was found dead in a bar at Ndugamano Centre in a suspected case of the effects of alcoholism.
Munene Wambugu, 32, was found dead after a night of drinking with his friends.
Witnessed said he collapsed after foaming in the mouth. They wondered why his friends left him in the establishment at closing time.
Residents said Mr Wambugu had been a habitual drinker and that his death may have been the result of excessive intoxication.
Nyeri Central divisional police boss Paul Kuria said an autopsy will make the cause of death clear.
“The body did not have injuries and the case is fresh so it would be speculative to say it was alcohol,” Mr Kuria said.
SICK MAN
At Kiamwathi, a 49-year-old man was found dead in his bed.
The assistant chief reported the matter after he was alerted by residents in the morning.
The cause of death was yet to be established but police were looking into the possibility of illness - the man's neighbours said he had been sick for about five years but that he had been living alone.
They said that they and some of his relatives gave him food in intervals.
“He would be fed in the morning, at lunch time and in the evening. He also took his medicine at those times," a neighbour said.
Police asked the family to submit medical records as proof.
Mr Kuria said this case will be treated as one of death due to natural courses.
DROWNING
In the third incident, the body of a man suspected to have drowned was retrieved from River Honi in Kiganjo area.
It was said that the man was a quarry worker.
Police and residents said he may fallen into river while crossing it on his way home.
Some reports indicated that the man many have been drunk.
“We are still trying to establish the circumstances that led to drowning [which appears to have been the case]," the police boss said.
The three bodies were taken to Nyeri County Referral Hospital mortuary.
