What you need to know:

  • That sounds like an immature child who wants a toy he threw away because now another child has seen value in it.
  • Keep your life and your sanity, and remember who you are and where you came from.

Dear Brenda,

My ex-husband is apologising for mistreating me. He abused me and left me a few years ago because I couldn’t get a child. He hurt me so much. I have moved on and adopted a child and now he wants to come back in my life. Yet he married another wife and has children.

No. You see, sometimes the universe or God or whomever you subscribe to brings past flames back into our lives just to check if we are still stupid. Are you still stupid? Consider these facts that you have told me. He is apologizing. He abused you and left you. He hurt you. You have moved on. Now he wants in. You know what that sounds like? An immature child who wants a toy he threw away because now another child has seen value in it. No, no, no. You cannot value yourself so little as to take back someone who you can't really even have, seeing as he has a wife and children. What are you taking him back for? To be his mistress? No man, especially not one of this particularly low calibre, is worth the regurgitation. Keep your life and your sanity, and remember who you are and where you came from. He is not worthy of you.
