King of radio fires up Lit963 on Nation FM

He is often referred to as the king of radio, having ruled the airwaves since 2000 when he started out at Capital FM, hosting a sports show.

Since then Fareed Khimani's career kept rising, but he "dropped" the mic in 2015 to pursue other interests. Two years later, he is back on one of the hottest morning breakfast shows on radio.

Khimani is now the host of the Lit963 show on Nation FM that airs from Monday to Friday, from 6am to 9pm.

“I am very excited to be back; radio has always been a passion of mine and I am glad that I am here again doing something that will benefit the society and change the entertainment industry,” says Fareed.

He adds: “The show is here to remedy a gap that has been there for a while. Because it is not just about music, although that is a major aspect of it. It also gives artistes space to interact more with their fans and also a platform to share their work in terms of music.”

The Lit963 show focuses on music and entertainment and targets youth aged 18 to 30.

Radio, Fareed explains, is still one of the most important mediums for artistes, although it has changed a lot.

However, many radio shows currently focus on giving their audiences human interest stories that are sometimes purely made up, instead of giving content that is of real benefit to the listener.

“Artistes understand the importance of radio if they want their music to be heard. And this show has provided the best opportunity for that. It is a Lit production because the music is great and it is also interactive and fun,” says Fareed.
