An Administration Police officer based at the Kisii Central Sub-County was arrested in Nairobi with a G3 rifle magazine loaded with 19 rounds of ammunition.

The officer, who is currently undergoing a training at the Administration Police Training College (APTC), was travelling from Nairobi to Kisii on Thursday at around 1pm and when the passengers were being searched, he was found to have hidden the magazine inside his bag.

The Transport manager of Gutton bus alerted police who rushed to the scene and arrested him.

Nairobi Central OCPD Paul Wanjama said they were still interrogating the officer to establish where he got the magazine and ammunitions from.

“We will arraign him in court as soon as investigations are concluded later in the day,” the OCPD said.

He becomes the fourth security agent to be arrested in Nairobi over the last one week.

Last Saturday, an officer with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) External Division was arrested in Pangani after he allegedly threatened to shoot a waiter at Katrina Hotel.

The officer, armed with a Glock pistol, was in company of another Police Constable based at Makongeni Traffic and another man identified as Abdul Salom Ahmed.

The previous day, another police officer, Maxwell Adero Ochieng of Lunga Lunga police station but currently seconded to NIS Nyati House was arrested together with Gor Mahia fans who were attacking motorists along Ronald Ngala street.

He was arrested and arraigned in court for the offence of malicious damage to a Nairobi County vehicle and assaulting a police officer.
