Guyo, Imwatok among Nairobi MCAs summoned over Elachi chaos

The anti-corruption agency has summoned six Nairobi MCAs over the fracas that occurred on Monday following Speaker Beatrice Elachi's impeachment.
The six are Majority Leader Abdi Guyo, Minority Leader Elias Otieno, Minority Whip Peter Imwatok, Waithaka MCA Anthony Kiragu Karanja, Ngando's Peter Wahinya and Nominated MCA Mary Njambi.
UNETHICAL CONDUCT
The lawmakers were asked to report to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday for investigations into allegations of unethical conduct by ward representatives.
Statements from the six will be taken by EACC officers Eunice Hinga and Juliet Wanjuhi.
The group is accused of violating section 42 (10) of Integrity and Leadership Act, 2012.
"The commission would like you to respond to these allegations and record a statement regarding the same. To this end, you are required to appear at the EACC headquarters at Integrity Centre at 10am, " stated a September 11 letter to Mr Guyo, who is Matopeni MCA. "Take notice that failure to comply with this notice shall render you liable to penal consequences."
The letter was signed by Lucy Kinuthia on behalf of EACC Chief Executive Officer Halakhe Waqo.
ELACHI HEARING
Mr Guyo told the Nation that he had not physically received the summon and that he will go the EACC after the Mombasa retreat for Nairobi MCAs.
"I will appear before the commission on Monday when I get back from Mombasa, " he said.
The summonses came a day after a number of city MCAs stormed Speaker Beatrice Elachi's office and ejected her following her impeachment last Thursday.
Ms Elachi, however, received temporary reprieve from the Labour court which said the case will be heard on Friday.
